Anna Rostedt Punga
Anna Rostedt Punga, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Clinical Neurophysiology at Uppsala University, Sweden. She also works as a consultant physician at Uppsala University Hospital.
Professor Punga´s research team has pioneered circulating microRNA and inflammatory protein biomarker discovery in Myasthenia Gravis (MG), mainly focusing on finding biomarker signatures in different MG subgroups. She has also performed national studies on epidemiology and pregnancy aspects and, as one of the first research groups, explored the beneficial effects of physical exercise in MG in several studies.
She held/holds multiple highly competitive national and international research grants and was awarded the Göran Gustafsson large prize in medicine for her studies in MG. Professor Punga has published 62 peer-reviewed original research articles, most related to MG and disturbed neuromuscular transmission, 11 review articles, and three book chapters. She was invited as a plenary speaker on the theme biomarkers in MG at the International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases in Perth, Australia, in October 2024.
Professor Punga is a member of several international MG expert groups and serves on the Medical and Scientific Advisory board for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA).
