Arcangela De Nicolo
Arcangela De Nicolo, MD, PhD, is a Science Professor at the Institute of Oncology and Molecular Genetics, Rīga Stradiņš University, in Rīga. With a research focus on breast cancer, she worked, also as a faculty, for ten years at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School in Boston. Upon returning to Italy (Veneto Institute of Oncology IRCCS in Padua and then IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital in Milan), she moved to dry lab research further expanding her scientific horizon. Dr. De Nicolo designs and coordinates crosscutting studies that assess the significance of sequence variants in breast/ovarian cancer genes (particularly, BRCA1), investigate genotype-phenotype relationships, and ultimately aim at patient-tailored cancer prevention and care. She is active in Italian and international scientific societies and oncology networks. As Clinical Working Group Chair in the ENIGMA international consortium, Dr. De Nicolo leads a global effort in support of standardized terminology for correct delivery and clinical use of genetic test results. Within the framework of EU-funded projects, she works on addressing multiple educational needs and streamlining cancer data sharing for improved care.
