Prof. Alberto Ortiz, is Head of Nephrology and Hypertension at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation Health Research Institute and University Hospital (IIS-FJD, Madrid, Spain), Professor of Medicine at Autonomous University of Madrid, European Renal Association (ERA) Chair of the Registry, as well as Clinical Science Chair-elect, and coordinator of the Spanish Kidney Research Network. He is trained as a nephrologist and completed his PhD at IIS-FJD-UAM and was a Postdoctoral Molecular Nephrology researcher at the University Pennsylvania and Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Kidney Journal (2014-2022). His research interests include the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the pathogenesis and treatment of acute kidney injury and CKD.
