Jakob Theorell
Jakob Theorell, MD/PhD, defended his PhD in 2017 at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, focusing on near-diagnostic investigations of human inborn immune cell cytotoxic defects. He held a postdoctioral position in the Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Group led by Professor Sarosh Irani 2018-2020. Since 2020, Jakob has developed his own research line back in Stockholm, in parallell with clinical work in psychiatry and neurology at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. In 2022, Jakob joined the Jenny Mjösberg research group, Karolinska Institutet, as a team leader. The research efforts of the team stretch from diagnostic developments, over epidemiological studies to investigations of immunoetiology for autoantibody-driven neurological disorders, especially autoimmune encephalitites. In addition, Jakob is currently involved in building both national, Scandinavian and international networks for collaboration for the betterment of patient care and resarch around autoimmune encephalitis.
